Breckenridge, Colorado
September 2021 Road trip with Minal
Friday September 10th
This was going to be the last day of our stay in Breckenridge. We had decided to simply chill most of the day.
Woke up by 7 am. Spent a relaxed morning at home. Around 11 am went into Breckenridge town.
Tried out some T shirts I had bought earlier and was confronted by the cruel realization that this size no longer can be called mine.Had to take them for an exchange.Browsed in some other shops. Bought some local honey.
Then went to a trail by the riverside . It was a nice walk but sad to see how less water there was in the river. I had been here several times in the past and knew how much more water this place is used to having. Earlier we couldn’t have jumped on the rocks to cross the river. But this time we did. Not only did we walk on them, Minal and I even showed off some yoga poses on it 😂
After the walk went back to the Mexican restaurant Yo Mommas Cantina where we had been to on Wednesday. This time I indulged in happy hour Margaritas. The cod tacos with mango habanero sauce were really good so ordered them again. We had some really relaxed chat between the four of us over various things including sarees. Particularly one saree for which I need to save up some money 😃. I asked my brother in law for tips to invest and make up for the big sum that this particular saree was calling for. What’s so special about this saree they asked . I explained to them the tedious process of double ikat technique and the finesse of the design that called for skilled labor to create the masterpiece.
After the relaxing lunch and intense post lunch discussion on sarees we headed home to enjoy a nice dip and jet massage in the hot tub before dinner time. Watched Djokovich win the US Open semifinals as we munched on homemade handvo and other savory snacks. In between the game suddenly spotted the crescent moon right after sunset and a bright Venus next to it hanging over the mountain peaks. Tried to capture the impossible beauty into the camera before resuming watching the game.
Cleaned up the kitchen after dinner and called it a day as we had to start our drive back home the next morning. Would have loved to go straight home instead of taking the break but 1100 miles in one day was bit of a stretch. Before going to bed reluctantly made a reservation to stay in Vegas the next day. Both kids were home this weekend and I yearned to see them before they went back. How things had changed since my first road trip from Chicago! I was no longer a certified vagabond !
