Jeevalaga Kadhi Re Yeshil Tu

The last two years will be etched in the memories of most of us who lived through these.

Not all things that came out of this pandemic were bad. For me the best thing that happened was the opportunity, more than ever before, to reflect within.

There is an old song in Marathi written by the renowned poet Ga Di Madgulkar, beautifully rendered by Asha Bhonsle tai and composed in an equally mesmerizing sequence of ragas by Mr Sudhir Phadke.

दिवसामागूनि दिवस चालले

ऋतू मागूनी ऋतू

जिवलगा कधि रे येशील तू

जिवलगा कधि रे येशील तू

The days are passing one after another, and so are the seasons. ( I wait with longing) Oh my beloved, when are you coming after all ?

GaDiMa is the poet who composed the Geet Ramayan in Marathi. Given the spiritual depth of his poetry I have no doubts that when he composed Jeevalaga kadhi re yeshil tu he must not have just the pining heroine from the film Suvasini in his mind.

Outside of the worldly context, these lines convey a lot to a spiritual seeker.

Those who are inclined towards the search for the infinite will know what I am saying.

Anyways . Pictures taken today in a coarse cotton Kotpad in earthy pink with one border in maroon and other in black. Kotpad is a weave of tribal communities in the state of Odisha. Initially used as shawls, more recently adapted into sarees.
