Sisterhood : Part 3
#traveldiaries
This will be my concluding post about sarees I received as gifts during my recent trip to India. This one is particularly close to my heart.
There are friends and then there are soul mates. One of my biggest blessings is being part of a group of 5 friends that formed a bond during our medical college years. After over 3 decades we remain close and try to meet when possible though it is not easy to get 5 women who live across the globe to be in one place at the same time. This time we managed to make this happen out of sheer will. We spent 3 days together in Aurangabad. Visiting the famous tourist destinations around Aurangabad like the Ajanta and Ellora caves, Daulatabad Fort and Bibi ka Maqbara were secondary attractions. Catching up with each other and spending quality time together was the primary agenda.
The saree is a gift from one of the friends in that group. She shopped for each of us during her recent visit to Kanchipuram. It is a soft silk kanjeevaram in deep blue with colorful temple motifs along the borders and colorful bands across the pallu. The yellow purse is a gift from yet another friend in the same group, the silver bangles in my hand from another and the cashews I’m holding also from yet another. They called this the Friendship Photo of the Year !
I will not share the photos with my friends out of respect for their privacy but I will share some solo pictures from this trip for you to see.
