Vidarbha: Part 8

 

Lately the Vidarbha weaver societies have been experimenting with using tussar along with hand spun( khadi) cotton yarn to make sarees. The result is a lighter and softer fabric, much more comfortable to wear in summer months and for daily work.

My saree is one such mix of tussar with khadi and has Bagru printing on it. Can’t ever go wrong with black and red combo. I draped this one in Mumbai last month and again this week to work. Easy to wash at home too.
