Baagon mein kaise yeh phool khilte hai

One of my favorite movie directors is Hrishikesh Mukherjee. His movies featured stories of the common man and everyday life. They could pull the strings of the heart when the theme was serious as in Anupama, Anuradha, Anand or Abhimaan. And it could tickle the funny bone in comedies like Golmaal, Bawarchi, Khubsoorat. One of my favorites from the comedy genre is Chupke Chupke. A simple plot by the newly married lead couple to tease the bride’s elder jijaji ( brother in law) while including a few other individuals in the light hearted conspiracy and the resulting tangles it creates was so delightful that I could watch it several times and not get tired. The increasing worry on the face of veteran actor Om Prakash to watch his saali flirt with the family driver was hilarious. He wasn’t aware that the driver was in reality a professor she had just married. Some lovely songs from the movie show the new couple romancing with the intent to irritate the uncle.

Yesterday we visited the almond groves again before the blossoms disappear for the season. Watching the bees hopping from flower to flower brought to mind the song from that movie( Chupke Chupke) :
Baagon mein kaise yeh phool khilte hain
( How do all these flowers blossom in the gardens?)
Khilte hain bhawaronse jab phool milte hain
( The young buds open when the bees go meet them)
Mausam baharonke lagte hain kyon pyaare
( why does the spring season seem so delightful?)
Hanste hain rote hain kaliyon ke sang saare
( Everyone seems to relate to the joys and sorrows of the young blossoms)
Kaliyon ke khilne se dil bhi khilte hain
( The hearts too blossom/become joyous when they see the buds blossom into flowers)

The recent rain and winds has dispersed the blossoms all over creating a white carpet of petals.
It was the play of Nature in action. Soon the blossoms will be gone and the young fruit take their place amidst the new foliage.

Saree was a mulberry silk in pink with floral design kantha embroidery in white thread.
