Jyoti kalash chhalke

 

Most of you who have seen and read my posts probably realize how much I indulge in sunrises.  There is something magical about sunrises. Here in Bakersfield California we are in a valley surrounded by the Sierra Nevada, Tehachapi mountains and the coastal ranges. Each morning when the first rays of the sun emerge from behind one of the peaks, the light disperses across the valley, exponentially illuminating and bringing it to life. That moment is to be witnessed and folded into the heart. 

One of my favorite songs that aptly describes the aura of this spectacular time is Jyoti kalash chhalke by Pandit Narendra Sharma. In pure Hindi he has so beautifully expressed the divinity that manifests at the moment of sunrise. The auspiciousness, the love of Mother Nature and the fulfillment of Mother Earth….every line of this poem  is such a lovely blend of poetic imagination and reality.

Today was one such beautiful morning that brought the lyrics to mind. I had just got the news that my son has matched for ENT residency. And with that happy news in my mind I watched a beautiful sunrise spreading joy over the entire valley. Do listen to the song today. It is magical.
