San Francisco

Day 1 of a four-day visit to the Bay Area in Northern California.

San Francisco is a city built on more than 50 hills and perhaps one with most parks per square mile area. It also has the largest of three Japan towns in The USA( the other two being in San Jose and Los Angeles). Prior to world war 2 there were over 50 Japan Towns in the country.

Friday we walked along the streets of SF to Alamo Square which is a park in the heart of the city located on the top of one of its hills. From here there is view of the old buildings in its vicinity as well as modern high rise buildings in the distance. Photo taken at Alamo Square shows these contrasting structures behind me. It was a rare sunny day in this city. People were out walking their dogs and having picnics at the park.

From there we walked several more blocks to Japan Town to enjoy a Ramen dinner.

Saree is a Telia Rumal design, double ikat on khadi cotton fabric.
