Whose Planet Is It ?
A long time patient of mine came to see me in the clinic yesterday. She lives in the quaint town of Three Rivers at the foothills of the Sequoia National Park. Drives nearly 90 miles to come see me. When I told her I had an upcoming visit to the park next month she told me to carry my own water.
Turns out the recent fires in the forests have done more damage than burning the trees. There is dangerous algae that has been growing after those fires and reportedly found in the mountain streams. The forest department has issued warnings for the people living around or visiting the area. But what about the animals? Our human race needs to wake up to realize that we are not the sole proprietors of this planet. Our misdeeds can harm other species. Luckily there are people like my patient who care. She told me she and her husband fill tubs of water and leave it in their yard for the bears, deer, rabbits and other wild animals that roam in the area. The world surely needs more people like her. Much more awakening is needed.
