Seattle, Washington State

August 22,2022

A day spent leisurely with family and friends in the Seattle area. Walked around at Pike’s Place enjoying local eateries and appreciating the goods in the farmer’s market, especially the flowers and fruits. Indulged in ice cream at Molly Moon’s. Took pictures around the Space Needle. Stopped by Kerry Park but Mt Rainier played hide and seek behind cloud covers. Enjoyed Thai carry out food at home. And walked to a nearby park to watch another beautiful sunset. The day’s special moment was meeting two beautiful saree sakhis at the park. Preeta Bhobe and Jayashree Narayanan took out time from their work day to come meet me. It was a real moment of joy for me to connect with these two delightful women. It was already past sunset so pictures are not the best and time together was short. Yet we felt an instant connect. Earlier in the week after reading my posts they had contacted me expressing the desire to meet while I was in the Seattle area. I am happy we were able to make it happen.

It had been a memorable week in Washington State. The following early morning( Tuesday Aug 23rd) we were to take our flight to San Francisco and I would carry on to Bakersfield from there by train. That was the plan. If it happened it would be a first for me to take that train route. But it didn’t happen.

I ended up renting a car and driving home from San Francisco after dropping off Amita to her apartment. Grabbed a ramen lunch in Japan town before that. Before leaving the Bay Area stopped to meet a friend’s son Pranav in San Jose and a dear friend Anjali in Saratoga. Made it home by 10pm on Tuesday after dropping off the car at the local airport in Bakersfield.

Saree for Monday in Seattle was a fine georgette I had bought in Los Angeles 3-4 years back. Last time I posted pictures in this saree were during another mother daughter trip, in 2019 to Milan. What a hot hot week it was in Italy at the time. Compared to that this week had been such beautiful weather. Neither hot , nor cold. Just perfect. Much grateful for this precious time with Amita.
