A poetess with a vision

 

Talking about Bahinabai and her unique perceptive aptitude, an interesting anecdote comes to mind.

Her son, Sopandev Chaudhary, once showed her a picture of Swami Vivekananda and asked her to recognize who he was. Bahinabai had never heard of or seen Vivekananda to know anything about him. She looked intently at the photo and replied “I see God is wearing a turban”! 

Much has been written about Swami Vivekananda while he lived and after he was gone. But no one came close to aptly describing him in such few words!

Vivekananda born in 1863, died 1902( age 39).

Bahinabai born 1880 died in 1951 (age 71).

Saree is a weave from Assam in raw mulberry silk yarn known locally as kesapaat. In this form the silk is very much gossamer (transparent).Thjs saree has used ghicha yarn in the pallu.
