Arrived in Mexico City yesterday, incidentally the biggest city in North America, even bigger than New York. . After over 32 years of moving to the USA this is the first time I got the opportunity to come to this neighbor country.
Settled into our rental apartment upon arrival and did a lot of walking in the half day we had yesterday.
This morning set out to see Chapultepec park which houses a castle, many museums, a lake and more. Today we saw the castle here, Castillo De Chapultepec, which also has a museum inside it. Once upon a time this was the residence of the Hapsburg royalty(Archduke)from Austria. The palace grounds reminded me of the Budapest castle as well as the palaces in Vienna. The murals, paintings and other exhibits within the palace were all amazing. The grounds are remarkably clean and surrounded by well maintained woods. Since the castle is on a hill it offers views of the city from all around its grounds. Half the day was spent here and a lot of walking already done past noon.
We took a Uber ride after that to a vegan restaurant that served a fusion of Japanese and Mexican food. If you are a foodie Mexico City is a must visit. So far we’ve enjoyed four meals here and not one has disappointed. Each one unique and memorable. People are friendly and courteous. The city is alive by the day and night. Very much reminds of Mumbai and also some parts are reminiscent of Los Angeles as well as of Buenos Aires. The jacarandas in blossom especially remind of these two American cities.
More about the city for next 4-5 days.
Saree today was a silk cotton mix in an earthy shade of brown highlighted with colorful jamdani floral design on pallu and lower border.
