Tuj Sagun mhano ki Nirgun re
TUJ SAGUN MHANO KI
Panditji admits he struggles to understand Dnyaaneshwar and Dnyaaneshwar in turn finds it confusing to understand Vitthala. Problem lies not with these devout students of adhyatma dnyan but in the complex nature of Parabrahma itself
This short song by Sant Dnyaaneshwar is recorded several decades back in the melodious voice of Mr. Sudhir Phadke aka Babuji.
Here Dnyaaneshwar has expressed his dilemma in deciding the nature of God.
Should I say you are with attributes or without?
Gross or subtle?
Visible or invisible?
He deliberates over this and recognizes that these are unresolved issues because God is one without a second. There is nothing else to draw comparisons with or measure against. Anumaane na ! God cannot be estimated or described accurately with any concrete means. Hence even the Vedas, which are the ultimate authority, concede their shortcomings in this matter and say “neti neti” ( not this, not this” in reference to God, Govind, Vitthala.
Dnyaaneshwar affirms that God is unique in that HE encompasses both opposites at once. Attributes and non attributes, gross and subtle, visible and invisible( form and formless). Not just one or the other of each pair.
In the end he admits that he is able to say this with authority because of the blessings of his guru Nivrittinath and Vitthala Himself. The last line can be also be interpreted to mean that Vitthala, the husband of Rakhumabai, is that Govind, the Universal Godhead who fits in the entire description above.
Saree is an Odisha ikat in cotton. The geometric design can be confused with Telia rumal pattern from Telangana. Why just Parmatma? Ikat can be confusing too😃. Single ikat or double ikat? Patan patola or Rajkot patola? Odisha ikat or Telangana ikat? Warp ikat or weft ikat? Geometric ikat or curvilinear ikat?
