Muir Beach Overlook and Stinson Beach

Finding a scenic, new place to drive to in a short time is never a problem in San Francisco. This time it was this outing to Marin County which is across the Golden Gate Bridge. Destination was Stinson Beach, a dainty town with a local population of under 500 but very popular with tourists. The place is blessed with shimmering sand lining the shores of the Pacific Ocean and a mountain range overlooking the coast.

The drive led through wooded areas with wildlife, small towns, winding roads that climb up considerable heights before descending into the beach town. We jumped with excitement as a lone deer emerged from the trees at one turn.

A short stop on the way at Muir Beach Overlook was beyond gorgeous. It was a short walkway from the parking lot with steps leading to the specially built deck on the edge of the cliff. The grand views of the ocean and beachside rock formations were simply stunning and enough to fill the heart with a sense of contentment and joy.

Amita asked me if I had heard the riddle “what is black and white, and red all over?” My saree was literally mouthing it, she said.

This contemporary ikat from  Pochampally had its first day in the sun. Turned out to be a memorable day.
