Adwight-Roshni Wedding June 2025
Sharing some photos from the second round of wedding celebrations of Adwight and Roshni.
There was a Mehndi ceremony hosted at a friend’s home in Fullerton near Los Angeles on June 4th. Theme was green.
Friday June 6th the celebrations started in Carlsbad near San Diego at Aviara Resort by Park Hyatt.
Friday evening was Sangeet. A fun evening out on the open lawns where family and friends performed dances and enjoyed dinner. Despite rain showers earlier in the day the skies remained friendly and so did the temperatures.
Saturday morning was divine experience with the Anand Karaj ceremony. Seeing the bride walk down the aisle brought tears to my eyes. She was divinity personified. All guests in pastel colors made the whole ceremony look just ethereal. The weather too cooperated entirely.
Saturday evening kicked off with cocktail hour on the lawns followed by the reception inside the ballroom. Family speeches followed by dancing and dinner were the highlights. The youngsters celebrated until the wee hours of the morning.
Guests gathered for brunch Sunday morning before bidding farewell.
More photos to follow.
My attires for the wedding events:
Mehndi: This pastel green kora cotton Benarasi is indisputably the most favorite of my saree collection. I had picked it from Khazana boutique at Taj Lands End in Bandra, Mumbai over 10 years back. The fine floral design all over the saree is a work of art. It was sheer delight for me to wear this cherished saree for the cozy mehndi function. The guttapusalu necklace and matching earrings were a perfect match for the understated saree.
Sangeet: Everything about my appearance at this event was completely unlike me. The make up was too loud for my taste. The hairstyle wasn’t something I felt comfortable with. The dress was chosen by me in Santacruz, Mumbai. I loved this Anarkali outfit out of the two dozen dresses I may have tried and rejected. Yet anyone who knows me would know that this dress is not my usual fare. I took the risk to oblige the kids who wanted me to wear something other than a saree. It’s a very heavy dress to carry around for half the day, let alone to dance in. But I did it. I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. Yet I went through the whole thing. A dear friend loaned me her set of statement earrings and matching necklace that she got from Tanishq. My traditional jewelry was not suited for this dress.
Anand Karaj: The theme was pastels. The ceremony was in the Sikh tradition. The groom conformed with the Sikh tradition with a turban and Sherwani. But his family remains Maharashtrian. So I chose this pearl colored silk brocade paithani with lotus design. I have had this saree also for over a decade. All the traditional Marathi jewelry like tanmani, chinch peti, tode, patlya, goth, and nath complimented the saree.
Reception: A gold tissue saree with heavy zardozi embroidery on pallu and borders. Paired with a beaded necklace with Kundan pendant and matching earrings.
Farewell Brunch: A silk Benarasi in off white with colorful Kashmiri Kani inspired design woven into it. A string of cherished Hanadama pearls around the neck sufficed to keep the look simple and elegant. Honestly this was the time when I really felt like myself. Sans makeup. Sans glitter and glamour. Just a neat saree and minimal jewelry.
