A Hike in Breckenridge Colorado: Part 6:

A Hike in Breckenridge Colorado: Part 6:

This morning we traced the same path yesterday to Frisco except I was behind the wheel and we got onto the Freeway 70 and drove up to the Vail Pass. They have a newly opened rest area here. We walked around the place and taking in views of the surrounding Rockies and their peaks. Minal and Atul then unloaded their bikes and took off on the downhill 11 miles trail to Frisco. I held Teddy’s leash and Abhay walked beside me. I would have liked to walk around but Teddy wasn’t in a mood to walk today. Finally Abhay decided to take him back to the parking area. I kept walking a bit more before turning back. We then got into the car. I drove to the Frisco parking lot where Atul and Minal would return. Abhay chose to stay in the car here with Teddy. I set out to walk. But by then the sky had darkened with clouds and it was drizzling lightly. Apparently it was more than a drizzle at Copper Mountain where Minal and Atul had stopped for coffee. I decided to push my luck and kept walking along the Blue River. About half a mile into the trail there was an opening that allowed access to the river. I cautiously made my way through the rocks and found a nice seat on one big boulder in the middle of the river. This year the water level was much lower than usual. There had been very little snow the past winter. The mountain peaks that normally have considerable snow caps even into September, this year were barren.

The drizzle was picking up force. I climbed back up from the boulders back to the trail and walked up to the car. Minal and Atul too were back in a few minutes after me. Minal took over the wheel on the ride back home.

My saree for the day was a natural dyed Handloom cotton weave from Karnataka, paired with blouse made out of ajrakh printed fabric. Matched it with tiger’s eye stone in silver jewelry.
