The Glass House
The Glass House:
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
We have heard this English idiom since a long time.
Recently I was complaining about my experience with the corruption I encountered in India and the pain it causes for a ground level citizen to get things done. It wasn’t an agenda to side with any political party or overthrow any government or anything near that. But simply a heartfelt appeal for the citizens as well as the government to make it a priority to uproot this disease of corruption that is eating the very fabric of our society.
My thoughts were expressed in a closed group chat between my classmates. A dear classmate took offense to my comments and wrote “people who live in glass houses….”
He was referring to the high level corruption with bitcoins etc that’s in the news regarding the USA.
He has a point. When we look at my house and your house, his argument is perfectly valid.
But what if we live in the same house?
Would it be considered throwing stones ?
