Absence of body consciousness
A realization this morning.
A brief feeling of comfort arose in the mind about using the toilet and shower at home instead of at the hotel where I will be staying tonight.
Having just woken up from a good night’s sleep the consciousness was still in a pure state. I could recognize the absurdity of the thought. Comfort vs discomfort for one and the same action!!
Then I said, why the difference?
The difference was for the deh buddhi. Deh buddhi was in familiar surroundings at home as opposed to the hotel.
Suddenly it occurred to me why John Palka our fellow participant in the Sunday classes feels a sense of peace and connection with divinity in nature. His deh buddhi( body consciousness) gets weakened or left behind when he is in nature.
At the level of pure consciousness, it makes no difference where we are. All differences arise in relation to body consciousness.
If body consciousness can be left behind at all times, most discriminatory practices can be eliminated. The connection to divinity lies in eliminating body consciousness.
It is 4:30 am Monday April 6th.
That’s why this time is called Bramha muhurta!!
The documentation of the experience is by itself not the same as the actual experience. The experience of pure consciousness cannot be described in any words. Only the clarity of thoughts that arose, were identified, and the realization that followed, while consciousnesss was largely untainted could be documented.
Subsequent ruminating over the experience also doesn’t do much justice to the actual experience. The experience was in the present moment. Rumination is a weak effort to bring it back into the present moment. The freshness is not the same.
What needs to be eliminated is the cycle of the arising of the thought of comfort as well as the realization that followed. And only consider the internal environment in which the thought had been noticed.
